I am a mustang mechanic living up the life in sunny California.
I have loved Fords from a very young age and have already owned a few,
my most recent bought and sold projects were my two 1972 Ford Pintos in order to purchase my 66 Mustang. Here is the story:
I just turned 15 when my neighbor gifted me a 1958 P444 Volvo. That was my first car. He pulled it out of a ditch where it had been buried for 30 years. My mom helped me title it. This project was much bigger than I could handle, and I sold the Volvo a few years later to help pay for the Mustang. Right after my 16th birthday, I found a 1972 Ford Pinto on Craigslist. The owner said I could only buy it if took the parts Pinto he had with it. I became the proud owner of TWO 1972 Pintos: A Hatchback and a wagon. I sold the wagon, and started working on the hatchback.
One day, while driving around the neighborhood learning how to drive a stick shift, I saw the beautiful 1966 Mustang Coupe with the 200 inline 6. It was sitting under a tarp with leaves and debris on it. I knocked on the door and asked if they wanted to sell. Melody & Gerald agreed and we are still friends. They let me pay the full $2500
off in payments of varying amounts. I
worked for about 8 months straight of 6-8 hour shifts to afford to
pay off my car and the day I got it was the best day in my life so far. It came in Sapphire blue and was perfect, it had a trashed interior, a
sticky brake pedal, and would shake loose at high speeds but it was
perfect and it was mine. From that day the restoration began.
Of course, I had to see the Pinto to buy parts!
